FAQs

Let’s cut to the chase: your questions answered.

  • An emergency typically involves a tree or large branch that poses an immediate threat to people, property, or infrastructure. This includes trees that have fallen onto homes or vehicles, branches blocking driveways or essential access paths, or trees that have become structurally unstable due to storm damage and are at risk of imminent collapse. If it cannot wait until business hours without risking safety, it is an emergency.

  • Generally, if a tree poses an immediate and severe risk to human life or property, you may be exempt from the standard permit requirements. However, you must be able to prove the tree was dangerous. As qualified arborists, we can document the hazard with photographs and a written report to satisfy Council requirements after the fact. We recommend checking the specific Sunshine Coast Council vegetation management guidelines, but safety is always the priority.

  • Yes. Storms and structural failures don’t stick to a 9-to-5 schedule, and neither do we. East Coast Tree Works provides true 24/7 emergency response across the Sunshine Coast, including weekends and public holidays. When you call our emergency line, you are connecting with a team ready to mobilise immediately.

  • In many cases, yes. If a tree has fallen and caused damage to your home or structures (like a fence or garage), your building insurance policy will often cover the cost of removal as part of the claim (Make Safe works). We recommend checking your specific Product Disclosure Statement (PDS). We can assist by providing detailed invoices and arborist reports to support your insurance claim.

  • Emergency work is priced differently than standard scheduled maintenance due to the immediate response time, the high-risk nature of the work, and the often adverse weather conditions. Once a tree becomes immediately dangerous, the job moves to a new scope of work, which can be more costly due to the risk posed. Factors influencing cost include the size of the tree, the complexity of the removal (e.g., if a crane is required), site accessibility, and the time of day. We provide transparent pricing and will assess the situation upon arrival to give you a clear understanding of the costs involved.

  • Safety is our non-negotiable priority. Our team conducts a dynamic risk assessment upon arrival. If active lightning or gale-force winds make immediate removal impossible without risking life, we may perform a “make-safe” operation — stabilising the tree or cordoning off the area — until conditions allow for full removal. We use industry-standard rigging and PPE to manage the risks associated with wet and unstable trees.

  • Yes. This is a technical operation requiring precision. We use specialised rigging techniques and, where necessary, cranes to lift the weight of the tree off the structure rather than dragging it, which could cause secondary damage. Our goal is to remove the hazard while preserving the integrity of the property underneath.

  • We cover the vast majority of the Sunshine Coast region and Mid Coast NSW. From Caloundra and Maroochydore up to Noosa and the hinterland areas like Maleny and Nambour. If you are unsure if you fall within our rapid response zone, please call us immediately, and we can confirm our ETA based on your location.
